Off the Streets works to get currently homeless people out of shelters/streets into housing. The transition from homelessness to a furnished room or apartment can take place within a day or two. Off the Streets work together with other organizations to house the most vulnerable — the homeless. Off the Streets provide the following kinds of help:
Moral support and encouragement — to help people believe that they can escape the trap of homelessness, and to help them retain their housing
Up to one month security deposit
Furniture and household items

In addition to furniture, Off the Streets provide a basket of essentials to people when they move in. Please see the “Furniture and Household Goods” page at www.otsdanbury.com if you are interested in helping out by preparing a Welcome Basket.
In the 15 years of their history, Off the Streets Danbury has taken over 800 people off the streets and into housing.
Off the Streets is completely volunteer based ans has no paid staff and minimal overhead. If you would like to get involved, please see the “volunteer your time” page at www.otsdanbury.com. They can use help with furniture and household goods, and would really appreciate donation of a panel truck for deliveries.
Off the Streets does not rely on national, state, or local government money. We have been blessed by the generosity of donors who believe in our mission.
Off the Streets has no paid staff, no office, and minimal overhead. So your donation goes directly to helping people experiencing homelessness get into permanent housing. We have found that it costs approximately $750 to get a homeless person Off The Streets.In 2023 thanks to your generosity we were able to pay security deposits for 58 people.
